Elective surgery

I think we need to be clear and careful in "lobbying" for elective surgery. I have attached a position statement from the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. I realize that many points in this document may not be directly applicable to our clinic-based outpatient surgical suites but we should be clear on the requirements for viral testing. If we are going to be required to obtain viral testing then things will be very difficult in my estimation.

I think we have the advantage of being able to keep patients away from the hospital to safely provide surgical service as we have proven we can do over the years.

Whether we like it or not we should also review the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons policy document. I have attached that as well.

We have to be very careful to describe how we can provide unique services and that some of the precautions may not be applicable in an office setting and that we can SAFELY provide NECESSARY foot surgery.
